The Second International Conference is held at the Faculty of Education.

The Faculty of Education Sciences at "Alexander Xhuvani" in Elbasan has held the second international conference with "Education for Demicratic Citizen in the New Century". Participants in this conference were over 100 scientific researchers, who, with their articles in various fields, have made a valuable contribution not only to the conference but also to the broad topic of democratic education. What has been noticed in the meantime has been the major international participation, where besides the researchers in the countries of the region there were also presentations from Italian or German scholars.

At the opening ceremony of this conference the Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences Prof.Dr. Wilson Kuri has thanked the participants for their participation, emphasizing the fact that such conferences are the best terrain of exchange of ideas and views among scholars themselves.

Meanwhile the Rector of the University of Elbasan Prof.Dr. Liman Varoshi has emphasized scientific research as an indispensable value where Albanian higher education should strongly invest. Varoshi stated that in this context the increase in research work at the University of Elbasan is located at the center of his policies, to make this university among the prestigious not only in Albania but throughout the region.

The conference was also welcomed by Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Nora Malaj, Mayor of Elbasan Qazim Sejdini, Prefect Arben Kamami, Vice President of the Education and Media Commission Alfred Peza, who emphasized the importance of such events and have Greetings to the initiatives taken in this law by the University of Elbasan.

Meanwhile, the conference was also welcomed by the public relations representative at the United States Embassy in Tirana Valerie O'Brien, which has emphasized the US assistance, have provided in the field of democratic education throughout Albania throughout years.

The conference continued with the presentation of the scientific articles of its participants.
