First National Conference “Challenges of Pre-University Education and Psycho-Social Services at School”
On May 20, 2017, in the premises of the Faculty of Education Sciences of "Alexander Xhuvani" Elbasan, the first national conference "Challenges of Pre-University and Psychosocial Services in the School" was held. This conference was organized in cooperation with the Association "Albanian Psychologists" and with RED, Elbasan.
In his greeting speech, the Rector of the University of Elbasan, Prof. Dr.Skender Topi has estimated that such scientific events are very important, as they serve that university academics, researchers and professionals from different sectors to exchange ideas. and build bridges of cooperation for concrete activities of broad public interest.
The Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences, Prof.Asc.Dr.dhth. Haxhiymeri, wished the participants in this conference, and emphasized that this forum comes at an important moment of reforming pre -university education and services. Psycho-social at school, aimed at achieving quality in education, guaranteeing social justice and creating equal opportunities for well-being and school success.
The conference was also welcomed by the representative of the Ministry of Education and Sport, Mr. Pellumb Karameta, head of the Authority for opening the files of former Security Mrs. Gentiana Sula, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Dr. Edmond Rapti, Sub -Chairman of the District Council, Elbasan Elena Xhina, Director of the Elbasan Regional Education Directorate Dr. Jonida Cungu, Executive Director of the Association "Albanian Psychologists" Prof.As.Dr. Fiona Todhri, as well as other guests.
The purpose of this conference was to encourage the discussion and exchange of ideas about the concrete challenges facing today within the pre -university education system, focusing on three closely interconnected service sectors: educational, psychological and social; Promoting the debate on new research findings and best practices of implementing modern pedagogy in diverse learning environments, school -based social programs for children and family, and psychological intervention strategies to empower children, parents and personnel of school; Increasing the contribution through research approaches to the theoretical and practical progress of the science of education, psychology and social services; Supporting concrete data from the labor market of the faculties that form teachers, psychologists and social workers and on their basis, improvement of continuous study and qualification programs, to respond efficiently to the requirements and standards of the time; Supporting initiatives for further expanding cooperation between participants.
The conference created opportunities for interdisciplinary communication between academics, researchers, teachers, psychologists, social workers, decision makers and policymakers, including students and former EU graduates. During its development, the participants referred to parallel sessions with themes: reform in the education system and challenges for the future; Issues of teaching and learning in pre -university education; Psycho-social and pedagogical issues of inclusive education; Social problems that affect education; Psycho-social problems at school; Challenges of education in the field of civic, cultural and sports values.
