US Student Exchange Program 2012-2013

The Student Exchange Program offers full scholarships for one-year university studies in the United States of America.

This program supports students for a 2-year program, which includes a year of study at a university in the United States of America, as well as a year of engagement in implementing a local community service project in Albania.

The purpose of the program is to assist the academic and civic development of young people in Eastern and Southeast European countries by presenting students with a curriculum of 'liberal arts', various teaching methods, community service work and programs civil society.

The main criteria that applicants must meet:

-To be one of the states: Albania,

-To be second -year university students, in their place of residence, in one of the areas: American Studies; Art history, classical studies, cultural anthropology, economic theory*, arts, history, international studies, journalism, law, literature and foreign languages, philosophy, political science, sociology and gender studies (*Economic theory does not include business administration or management)

-To be second -year students at the time of application and be ready to return to complete their studies in their country after the end of the US study year

-To have excellent academic results and possess English very well, in reading, speaking and writing

-Demonstrate leadership skills and have experience in community service activities and/or extracurricular activities

-To have lived the last two years in the country of Residence

-To have not previously studied at a university in the US

-To have not studied high school in the US for more than one semester.

-To be ready to start studies in the US in the summer of 2012

The forms completed together with the accompanying documentation must be submitted in two copies to the Soros Foundation until December 1, 2011.
