International Conference “Literature and Arbereshe Culture: Jeronim De Rada in the 200th anniversary” 4-5 June 2014

In the framework of activities on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Arbëresh poet, Jeronim De Rada, the first romantic voice in Albanian literature and activist of the Albanian National Movement, Department of Literature-Journalism, at "Alexander Xhuvani" University, Elbasan , organizes the International Scientific Conference: "Literature and Arbereshe Culture: Jeronim De Rada on the 200th anniversary of birth"

The issues presented for research are aimed at expanding studies on literature and Arbëresh culture, as well as the most complete resettlement of the poet's figure not least studied so far, but still expecting to be treated in a new methodological and philological perspective.

The conference is scheduled to take place on 4-5 June 2014. Conference project

It is thought that the conference will take place with two sessions. We note that the data on the date and the development of the accepted participants will be notified below, together with the final activity program. For each session, below, a set of possible steering theses are listed:

The first session will be the thematic plenary session: "De Rada, a figure waiting to be renewed"

The second session will be built on the basis of panels to be organized according to themes

1. De Rada's literary study issues

• Deradian Romanticism and Romantic Criticism in Literary Degree Historiography: Critical Perspective
• De Rada's texts and Albanian reader: Emergency of restoring a balance.
• Poetics stated in aesthetic studies etc.
• De Rada Texts and Philological Reconstruction: Prof. F. Altimari's Optics for Deradian Studies
• De Rada and typologies of Albanian and European Romanticism: Accessions and Comparisons

2. The language and nation in De Rada's activity

• The linguistic features of de Rada's poetic discourse
• De Rada's publicity and the Albanian issue
• De Rada and Albanian and European personalities of the time: correspondence

3. Arbëresh Literature and Culture:

• De Rada as the founder of the Arbëresh school
• Arbëresh culture in the vision of de Rada's followers
• Serembe as a continuation of De Rada's work
• Serembe waiting to be renewed
