The University of Elbasan opened the exhibition of "Christian Gut Book Fund"

The University of Elbasan, "Alexander Xhuvani", opened the exhibition of "Christian Gut Book Fund". Prominent French albanologist, prof. Christian Gut, gave to the University of Elbasan a rare treasure, his personal library with over 3500 books, magazines and manuscripts.

Prof. Gut had leaving a testament before his death that he would donate this fund to the Library of the University of Elbasan, "Alexander Xhuvani", a trust that was provided by the Rector of the University, prof. dr. Skender Topi, who traveled to Paris and brought this golden fund for Elbasan and all of Albania.

On this occasion, under the auspices of the Faculty of Humanities and the Department of Linguistics, a very special ceremony was held in the library of this university, with the participation of students, scholars, lecturers and Ambassador of France to Albania, Christina Vasak.

In the library premises, the rare books were exposed between them and the publications of the 1700s onwards, enriching the albanology fund and turning Elbasan into its epicenter.

In the speech taken on this occasion, the Rector prof. dr. Skender Topi said that Christian Gut was an extraordinary scholar who devoted his entire life to Albanian history, language and culture. He said that "he feels proud that the University of Elbasan is a continuation of the excellent tradition of Normale and the bright constellation of teachers, scientists and academics from this city."

Rector Topi also underlined that "the scientific wealth of this great friend of Albanians has enriched the fund of albanology and Balkanology which will be the subject of study for researchers and scientists".

While the Ambassador of France to our country, Christina Vasak has greatly appreciated the act and said that the embassy, ​​university and French alliance is working miraculously. In her speech the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, prof. neither. dr. Majlinda Peza (Perriu), made a summary of the life and work of prof. Gut. She said that, although Gut was a member of the Kosovo Academy, although he held the title Honoris Causa from the University of Tirana, he was very much affiliated with Elbasan and for this municipal council gave the title "Honorary Citizen".

With details about the research activity of prof. Christian Gut and the tremendous importance of the donated fund to the University of Elbasan spoke the head of the Department of Linguistics, prof. neither. dr. Teuta Toska. All this activity, and the exposure of books, was cured with special care thanks to its work.

The exhibition with the Christian Gut Book Fund will remain open until December 14th.
