The seminar "Fight against Hate Language" is organized at the University of Elbasan, as part of the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.
The University of Elbasan "Alexander Xhuvani", in cooperation with the Council of Europe, the French Embassy, the Albanian Parliament, the People's Advocate and the Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination, held the seminar on "Fight of Hate Language". This event was organized as part of the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.
In his speech, the Rector of the University of Elbasan dr. Skender Topi, praised the seminar while emphasizing that the themes on hate speech is a coherent theme.
“I have the honor to be in front of you today in the capacity of leading one of the most important institutions of higher education in Albania, which is not only an institution of education, but above all a value institution. I say this with complete conviction, as the University of Elbasan has been contributing to the cultivation of the values of peace, tolerance and all acceptance for years, ”said prof. The ball.
He further urged students to distance themselves from any form of hate speech and become promoters of change by ascertaining, denouncing and helping to identify such cases.
The head of the EC Office in Tirana Jutta Gutzou said that the activity organized at the University of Elbasan has two goals. On the one hand it launches the anti -discrimination project and on the other hand coincides with the anniversary of the Council of Europe. “The Council of Europe is the oldest political organization on our continent, it is a comprehensive organization. As part of the Council of Europe, Albania contributes to the setting of standards ”, stated Ms. Gutzou.
France's Ambassador to Albania, Christina Vasak, said that "I am here to be told that everyone can act for the development of this democratic vigilance in all respects."
