Subsequently, Prime Minister Edi Rama has developed an open discussion with lecturers and university students. Opening this meeting Rector of the University of Elbasan Prof.Dr. Skender Topi, welcomed Prime Minister Edi Rama. The Rector has focused on the importance of implementing the new law on higher education, which is a major challenge for the institution he runs in many ways. Further referring to the development processes of the university during this period, Prof.Dr. Skender Topi stated that: “We were among the Higher Education Institutions in Albania that underwent the institutional external evaluation process of universities, with the British Quality Assurance Agency in Higher Education (QAA) contracted by the ministry of education and sport. Let me call this without hesitation as a milestone. I have this conviction because for the first time the Albanian educational institutions, faced the same demands and standards as European counterpart universities. This process gave us the opportunity to understand where we are, what should we improve and what to do in the future, in order for our students to have a degree that is worth, a degree that derives from a quality curriculum, from a qualified staff and from a research work. ”
In the meantime, during his speech, the Prime Minister initially praised the University of Elbasan for the successful passage of the process of external institutional evaluation carried out by the British Agency. He also promised those present that the government would enable the construction of the construction of the new building of the Faculty of Humanities, a request submitted by Rector Skender Topi during the meeting held at the latter's office. Prime Minister Edi Rama has also praised the new Higher Education Law, which according to him lays the foundations and consolidates a system at the center of which is the quality of students and high school diploma.
