Organized at the EU Meeting: "Capacity building of Albanian Universities for Internal Governance"
On June 16, 2015, at "Alexander Xhuvani" University, Elbasan was held the seminar entitled "Capacity building of Albanian Universities for Internal Government", organized by the Erasmus+ Office in Tirana in cooperation with the University of Elbasan. The seminar was attended by rectors, deans, members of academic staff from the HEIs of Tirana, Korça, Shkodra, etc., representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sport, as well as representatives of various universities of the country.
In his greeting speech the Rector of the University of Elbasan, Prof. Dr. Liman Varoshi emphasized the importance of this seminar and underlined the fact that the capacity building of Albanian universities is a current issue that deserves to be maximally appreciated and the subject of adequate solution discussions.
The seminar addressed the challenges of the current government situation ranging from the level of the institution to the basic unit of the department, the changes brought by reform and the new higher education law, with the aim of conveying the voice of HEI staff in a final document with recommendations for the drafting of future bylaws.
In this seminar was also attended by international expert Stephen Hagen, Professor Emeritus, Deputy Rector for Management and Governance at the National Research Center in St. Petersburg, Deputy Chancellor of the University of Wales, Great Britain, Director of Research, Business and Innovation at the University of Western England of Bristol, etc. He introduced the most successful models of governance in the universities of the most developed European countries, and will address the key aspects of the internal organization of the department.
Other themes of this seminar were “the current situation of governance of Albanian higher education institutions by Prof. Dr. Flamur Bidaj, lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, "Further Developments of the Governance of Higher Education Institutions within the framework of the reform and law on higher education" by Prof. dr. Anila Paparisto, lecturer of the University of Tirana, etc.
