US Ambassador Donald Lu visits the University of Elbasan

US Ambassador to Albania Mr. Donald Lu, accompanied by the Director of the Peace Corps in our country Earl Wall, paid a visit to the "Alexander Xhuvani" University of Elbasan. Initially they were received at a meeting by the Rector of Prof.Dr. Liman Varoshi, who, after welcoming, has made an overview of university activity and work with students of research projects. Rector Liman Varoshi has also spoken about the possibilities of cooperation with counterpart universities in the US, collaborations that are expected to be concretized soon. The Rector also spoke about the cooperation that the University of Elbasan has had with the Peace Corps, describing it as highly successful. On his part, Ambassador Donald Lu thanked for hospitality by appreciating the premises of the university where students study them by studying described as quite modern.

Then Ambassador Donald Lu saw closely the Laboratory of the English Language Branch at the University. This laboratory was made possible by the cooperation of this department with the Peace Corps in Albania through the SPA (Small Project Assistance) program. The grant given by the Peace Corps enabled the purchase of a simultaneous translation device and the university enabled the translation cabin as well as the classroom for practicing this type of interpretation.

The latest stop of US Ambassador to Tirana Donald Lu and Peace Corps Director Earl Wall has been the University Library, where he held a meeting with lecturers and students of this university. During this meeting, organized in the form of a conversation, Ambassador Donald Lu stated that relations between Albania and the US have been strengthened and "mature", just as Albania has matured and developed.
