At the University of Elbasan the International Scientific Conference "Lef Nosi is a prominent figure of Albanian history and culture"

The University of Elbasan in cooperation with the Center for Albanological Studies and the Municipality of the City have organized the International Scientific Conference "Lef Nosi a prominent figure of Albanian history and culture, which was held under the special care of the Minister of Education and Science Myqerem Tafaj.

Attending this conference besides the most prominent scholars of the field in national and regional field were the Vice President of the Albanian Parliament Ardian Turku and the Minister of Education and Science Myqerem Tafaj.

The latter, speaking at the plenary session of this conference, praised the figure of Lef Nos, especially as a politician. Tafaj assured that the Ministry of Education will support research and scientific activities and especially the Albanological sciences, congratulating the University of Elbasan on the work it is doing in this regard, which is also highlighted with the development of this conference.

The conference has developed its work divided into three sessions based on different areas of Lef Nos and respectively: Political-Political Activity, History and Archivistics, Linguistics, Literature, Ethnology.

I cordially thank you for your participation in the International Scientific Conference "Lef Nosi - Central figure of Albanian History and Culture, which the University of Elbasan" Alexander Xhuvani "organizes with the cooperation of the Center of Albanological Studies and the City Hall, in honor of 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

This conference is organized under the high care of the Prime Minister of Albania Sali Berisha and we express gratitude for the investment of his name in this initiative we are realizing.

The conference will take place with the participation of well -known scholars from our two institutions, as well as by the University of Tirana, University of Shkodra. University of Gjirokastra, Albanological Institute of Prishtina and other university networks. Researchers from several Balkan and Europe countries also participate: from Bulgaria, Turkey, France, from the United States of America. We thank them in particular.

This conference is the largest annual scientific activity our university organizes. For years we have worked to prepare a worthy scientific conference for such a figure as that of Lef Nos: protagonist activists in three periods of Albania's history: during the Renaissance, during the Albanian state and during World War II. But Lef Nosi did not only have political-patriotic activity. He is the founder of the Albanian national archives, the greatest collector in their history, a polyhedric and encyclopedist activist in several areas: history, ethnology, linguistics, diplomatic, religion, numismatic, philately, publicity. He created the greatest documentary treasure of Albania, showing the same attention to the ecclesiastical codices and to the Ottoman administration's scholars, the written testimonies and those that had to be collected from oral memory. Lef Nosi is present at all the important nodes of Albania's history over half a century. Albanian historiography and national sciences generally have obligations to this figure and we will strive, through about 50 papers that will be presented in three sections, promote the legacy we have from it, a legacy that has lived a quarantine regime from the end of Anti -fascist war to date. So we think we respond and the responsibility that belongs to us as a scientific institution to honor the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The conference will be multidisciplinary, just like Lef Nos's personality. It will address essential issues of the history of state -owned Albania related to it and other activists. Therefore it is a national and international conference, in which a new generation of unbeaten researchers who have managed to shake the dust of a collection of documents of 13,000 sheets, where great political truths and will be revealed and will be revealed. cultural.

Dear colleagues, dear participants,

First of all, I cordially thank you for your valuable contributions to the conference that was just closed dedicated to Lef Nos's encyclopedic figure as the primary protagonist of the Albanian centuries. This is also our institutional reverence for the 100th anniversary of Albania's declaration of independence.

This inter -university and international conference, which took place with three parallel sections, united qualified scholars, who made true scientific expertise on this personality, who left no field without touching. 51 papers were read, which referred to the unrepeatable legacies of Lef Nos: in historiography, in ethnology, in linguistics, in folklore, in publicity, in translation, in philately, in archeology, in the history of beliefs and civilizations.

It is the first time that Lef Nos's legacy has been looked at in such a paradigmatic way, leaving almost any sides of it without shedding. The announcers presented sources that, for the most part, were outside the Albanian bibliographies and libraries.

Today it can be said that the community of Albanian scientists has an accurate picture of what the treasure that Lef Nosi created, a treasure that has only opened and expects other more in -depth studies. Out of any doubt, he is the greatest source of Albania's history. At the same time it became known by scholars that Lef Nosi's legacy is found not only in Albanian archives and institutions, but also in other countries in the world, including memory institutions of neighboring countries and in European countries.

Now that it can be said that this legacy has been announced, it has come out of the reserve state, new responsibilities are displayed for researchers, which will surely be carried out step by step, but still without delay, because we have lost enough time. Let's start from the simplest things:

There is a lack of inventory or a catalog of Lef Nos's heritage at least nationally, which could later be supplemented with data from archives abroad. Second, there is a lack of a history of the lef Nosi fundraising due to the anonymity of his name for decades. Third, little light has been cast on the powers of Lef Nos as a researcher in various fields of philology, leaving mainly in his role as collector. As for Lef Nos, a scholar and scholar, this remains another major objective for us and for all albanology scholars. Fourth, it is up to science to take responsibility and to provide certified explanations for those called Lef Nos's light in political and patriotic activity. I am mainly referring to his role during World War II. Traditional historiography has filed the name of Lef Nos, condemning it intellectually after the political punishment it suffered. It is a very important thing that research institutions are being enriched these years with entire archives and not with files and file files. This will enable the objective of our history.
